East Texas receiver makes Wright choice

PITTSBURG, TX (KLTV) -

Pittsburg athletic director Robert Manley hasn't seen many athletes quite like Kendall Wright.  As a Pittsburg senior in 2007 Wright earned all-state honors in football, basketball and track.  Wright went on to become perhaps the greatest receiver in Baylor history, holding ten difference school records.

Wright is likely to be a first round pick and could raise his stock even more this week at the NFL Scouting Combine.  He's such a gifted receiver, it's hard to imagine Wright had other options.

"He was leaning toward basketball and he played basketball his first year at Baylor," said Manley.  "With football he was really pulling both ways. We told him 'There's not a lot call for five foot ten point guards.  But a guy that has your speed and quickness would have a great shot in the NFL.' So that's why we tried to steer him that way and we're glad that he ended up going that way."

The NFL Scouting Combine runs through February 28 in Indianapolis.  The NFL Draft is April begins April 26.
