LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

The Longview Police Department's K-9 officer was key in alerting officers to drugs in a vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

Just  after 11:00 pm Tuesday, a Longview police officer stopped a vehicle on W. Hawkins Pkwy because of a light out on the license plate. During the traffic stop the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Taylor White was visibly nervous and could not stop shaking, so the officer asked for consent to search the vehicle.

Taylor denied consent and the K-9 unit was called in to search the vehicle. K-9 officer, Vestos alerted the other officers to the odor of narcotics and they began a search of the vehicle.

Officers found several bags of marijuana in a lunch box in the center of the back seat and in the passenger seat along with a small baggy of cocaine under a stack of money in a cup holder in the center console.

The total weight of marijuana found was 1.355 oz. and 0.4 grams of cocaine.

Taylor and the passenger of the vehicle, Colton Hall, 21, of Dallas were both taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine.

Bond for each has been set at $3,000.
