Sports Headlines 2/21/12

Let the Yu Mania begin.  Yu Darvish showed up to Rangers spring training one day early.  Darvish worked out today but did not talk to the media.  Darvish reportedly asked Derek Holland to teach him English.  Holland told Darvish he probably wasn't the best guy to be teaching English.

One day after one East Texas college cut it's entire athletic program, another East Texas college is celebrating one of his biggest moments in more than 70 years.  Lon Morris College football has been invited to join the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.  Lon Morris restarted it's football program two years ago.  Lon Morris head coach Johnie Richey joked that he's "scared to death."  But the coach is very excited about the future.  Lon Morris will face tough competition in Blinn, Trinity Valley, Navarro, Kilgore and TJC.

There are so many playoff basketball games tonight, we can't come close to touching them all.  Tune in for highlights on your KLTV News at Ten.  Click here for tonight's schedule.

My final thought has nothing to do with sports, but I think it's pretty interesting. After careful research, students at Lehigh University have estimated it would cost $852 quadrillion to build a real Death Star (The giant looking planet from Star Wars). That's 15 zero's. Sadly it's probably not going to happen in my lifetime. It would take 833,315 years to cobble together all the iron it would take to build it.  I'm glad to see Lehigh University is using it's resources wisely.  Have a great day.
