GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A third person has died after a fiery two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 early Sunday morning.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, crews were called to the eastbound lanes of I-20, just east of the Highway 42 overpass in Gregg County, for a two-vehicle crash.

DPS Trooper Davis says the two trucks were "playfully" driving alongside each other when one truck hydro-planed and hit the other truck, knocking it into a retaining wall.

The trucks both spun off of the roadway. One truck flipped on its side and hit a tree. The second truck collided with the first, rupturing the gas tank causing the truck to explode into what authorities called a "fireball."

Officials say the victims were still alive at the time of the explosion.

Troopers say the two models involved were a  Ford F-150 and a Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Dodge Ram identified as 22-year-old Victor Hugo Castro of Longview, and a passenger in the F-150, identified as 18-year-old Yalitza Diaz of Longview, were pronounced dead at the scene.

On Thursday, DPS officials reported that 21-year-old Fernando Marroquin passed away at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Marroquin had been flown to Parkland after the wreck with a broken back and severe burns.

Three other people, including the F-150 driver were hospitalized at Good Shepherd Medical Center, and are listed in stable condition.

Another person was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and was treated for severe burns.
