Poor choice of words prompts bank robbery scare

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A poor choice of words allegedly made in passing prompted a bank robbery alarm at a Shreveport bank Tuesday morning.

It was a tough lesson learned for the man, who police say made a joke in passing to an armored car driver parked outside the Red River Bank on North Market, allegedly telling the driver to give him all that money.

He then continued on into the bank, armed only with the $100 bill his wife had given him to break for change to buy hot dogs across the street.

The Brinks driver called police.

His wife says he likes to kid around.

Police detained and questioned him to see if charges were warranted, but ultimately determined that the man never intended to rob anyone. He was released without being charged criminally.
