Fatal House Fire Is Suspicious

A body is found in a burning home in Tyler, and foul play is suspected. 59-year-old Marlin Wooten of Longview was pronounced dead at the scene of a house fire on North Moore in Tyler early this morning. Tyler police were called to the scene when fire officials determined arson was a possibility.

"This is more unusual in that we have a fire that looks suspicious, it may be arson, so if that's the case, then we have a murder," said Tyler Police Officer Chris Moore.

Wooten's body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy. The owner of the residence was not home at the time of the fire.

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs. However, in order to surpass their opponents this season, including Carthag...More >>
