They've made significant accomplishments through the year, and tonight, they were honored. People from five counties in East Texas with cognitive disabilities were recognized by the Andrews Center. It was all part of this year's Brookshire's Special Awards for Special People. Michael Bien received Brookshire's Consumer of the Year award, just one of the 21 awards given tonight. Other award winners include Hoyt Parsons, who received the Heaton Eye Associates Achievement Award and Janice Kaelin who received the Andrews Angels Volunteer Award. Janice gave more than 400 hours of her time for volunteer service. The patron of tonight's event was Brookshire's grocery company and the award sponsor was Heaton Eye Associates.
