Passenger Dies In Officer-Involved Wreck

We have learned that a car wreck in Malakoff yesterday morning has claimed one person's life. Thirty-five-year-old Jeanetta Turner from Malakoff died today at ETMC in Tyler. She was taken off life support late this morning after suffering serious head injuries. The two-car accident happened on Hwy 31. DPS investigators say a Malakoff police officer was speeding to an emergency call when he rear-ended the car Turner was in. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The driver and three other passengers, including two small children, ages 2 and 5, were also taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. Officer Floyd Thomas is on paid administrative leave, while DPS troopers continue their investigation. Turner's body will be sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
