Local Reaction To The Passion

"I the film was just fantastic, awesome," said Shirley Jones a member of the Grace Family Church in Canton.

"It's one of the best documentaries I've seen on the single most important event in history," says William Hunt who has been a Christian for 28 years.

Hundreds of people filled two theaters at the Times Square theater in Tyler today to catch the first glimpse of "The Passion of the Christ."

A hush fell over the crowd as the movie started, and when the movie was over the crowd was quiet, pensive and passionate.

"It was hard to watch. It hurt to watch. But his love is so far beyond human imagination," says Jackie Robinson who has been saved 32 years.

"I think the driving points to me was every time they drove a nail in his hand. It was just like they were driving the nails through my heart," says Arlin George of First Baptist Church in Tyler.

" I am just awed that Jesus would die for me so I could live forever," said Ms. Jones.

Sixteen year old Amanda Hunt saw it with her entire family. She was born and raised in a Christian home, but she said the movie impacted her in a way she never imagined.

"It showed me his love was far deeper than I thought and his pain and suffering was worse than I ever thought it was. It will change the way I love him forever. It really will," she said.

If you'd like to see the movie, there are still some tickets available at theaters throughout East Texas, but many shows are sold out until the second week of March.
