LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Longview Police say they have arrested a man caught sleeping in a vehicle he was burglarizing.

According to the arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of West Hoyt Drive on a welfare check just before 6am, when they found 27-year-old Patrick Ryan Ross passed out in one of the victim's vehicles, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Ross had items belonging to the victim as well as property from other victims, including a golf club, tools, a firearm and documents bearing one of the victim's names. The suspect reportedly told officers he had taken some of the items from a residence in the 500 block of Terrace Drive, just up the street from that location.

After further investigation, officers concluded that Ross had broken into two vehicles and the utility room which is connected to the residence at 505 W. Terrace.

Ross has been charged with burglary of a habitat, theft of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

His bond has been set at $25,000.
