Tyler ISD recommended and unanimously approved the hire of Fairfield athletic director and head football coach Darrell Piske Monday afternoon. Piske takes over as Tyler Lee head football coach and campus coordinator.
Tyler Lee has three wins the last two seasons. Piske led Fairfield to 20 wins in the same span.
"I always look at what can be down the road, not where something is right now," said Piske. "Looking at this it can be great. They (Tyler Lee) won in '04, so obviously that chance is there if you getting rolling. That's what I looked at when making my decision."
Piske will start his new job on Thursday. He replaces interim head football coach Randy Huffstickler.
