Glitz hosts super bowl alternative

LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- An unusual alternative to super bowl Sunday , with a fashion flair, was held today in Longview. It was glitzy and glamorous, all for the biggest night of the year for high school seniors. 'Putting on the glitz prom extravaganza' was held at the Reserve in Longview to a standing room only crowd. The sold out event brought teens and their parents out for the latest in fashion.

"Just looking at the hairstyles looking at all the different dresses and stuff like that," says Pine Tree high school senior Jenny Lee Pelofske.

An event where parents could fawn over their kids.

"Just getting out in front being a quiet strength a humble confidence, walking the runway," says parent Matt Almeter.

For high school seniors it was a chance to see what they might be wearing. Many were trading in football watching, to watch their kids model the latest tuxes and evening gowns.

"I'm just proud of her she's got a great heart, this is really neat," Almeter says.

Instead of gridiron action, there was runway modeling, and even ballet. But still, some made allotments for later.

"I dropped a gallon of bluebell off at my friends house down the street so I'm going to the game after this, to have a good time with people," Almeter says.

A 500 dollar scholarship was awarded to one of the students involved in organizing the event.
