Special signing day at Bishop Gorman

In the last 23 years, Reverend Jerome Milton has helped 178 Bishop Gorman students land athletic scholarships.  Six of those students were honored Friday, one of which brought Reverend Milton to tears.

His daughter Lakesha Milton signed a track and field scholarship with Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire.   Milton adopted Lakesha 17 years ago.

"I took her from the floor of child protective services this date 17 years ago," said Rev. Milton.  "It was overwhelming for me emotionally because she had been helpless, hopeless and forgotten. But God brought her into our lives and we adopted her at five and a half months and then God brought her to this point and carried her to points that she never would have thought. So it was very special to have given a child an opportunity to make it to more lofty significance."
