Panini's Cafe To "Passion" Cafe

A new outreach opportunity has hit East Texas as a result of the overwhelming interest in "The Passion of the Christ". For the next 30 days, Panini's Cafe, next to Times Square Cinema in Tyler, will become The Passion Cafe.

It will be open in the evenings, and will serve up free coffee and conversation. This will allow those who see the movie a chance to talk about it with a local pastor or counselor. Tonight, those involved in this ministry got together to go over the final details and to fellowship. The owner of the cafe, Charley Gordon, said the idea for The Passion Cafe was presented to him from local ministers, and has become a community-wide effort, "We really have two missions here. Our first mission is to try to bring the churches in the Tyler community, Smith County community together as a body of believers. Secondly, and perhaps even more importantly, we want to serve as a place where people can have honest questions answered."

Panini's is scheduled to be open from 4:00 p.m. to midnight, at least for the next 30 days. Charley Gordon said if it's a success, it could stay open longer. He also said more than 60 community churches are involved in this ministry.

If you would like to be involved, we've set up a link on our website. Just go back to the home page and click on the "Know More on 7" icon. Look for the "Passion Cafe" link.
