Former E. Texan NFL players talk about lawsuit against league

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Dallas Cowboys running back and hall of famer Tony Dorsett is joining more than 300 former players suing the NFL.

The lawsuit claims the league uses the players for success ... and leaves them crippled during their retirement, with little to no money for medical bills.

George Cumby spent several years playing for the Green Bay Packers. And, during his career, he sustained a multitude of injuries...which eventually led to his retirement in 1987.

And now, he feels expendable.

"We were their product and if their product is not performing on the field...they have other ways of bringing other products in," Cumby said.

Former Oakland Raiders player Jeb Blount says he suffered injuries also. But, it's just the way of the game.

"You basically would be escorted from the bench on the sideline to the locker room where Doctor Cortisone and Doctor Novacane awaited your arrival," he told us.

Cumby says he needs both of his knees replaced and has numerous brain injuries. He says many players from his generation have little to no money for medical bills. Now, he thinks the NFL should pay up.

"Just help us. Provide for us because we've done the work for you," he said.
