Van Area Oil and Historical Museum catches fire

VAN, TX (KLTV) -

Firefighters are on the scene of a structure fire in Van.

The Van Area Oil and Historical Museum caught fire earlier this evening. The Grand Saline Volunteer Fire Department says the fire is already contained.

Officials with the Van Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was electrical in nature-- the museum was undergoing a remodel. Crews will stay on scene to make sure no hot spots flare up.

According to the State of Texas travel website, the Van Area Oil and Historical Museum is an old warehouse built in the 1930s by the Pure Oil Company. Displays include various types of oil-related memorabilia as well as the history of the area.

The museum is located near the intersection of State Highway 16 and CR 1501.

We have a crew en route and will post more information as soon as we have it. Stay tuned to KLTV.com.
