LISD answers questions about ethics of hiring retired superintendent

Tyler, TX (KLTV)-  Concerns are being raised over a retired East Texas superintendent some people worry may take advantage of the system.

Last week, LISD school board members said they wanted to temporarily hire Dr. James Wilcox as interim superintendent while they looked for his permanent replacement. That announcement drew some heated reaction from some east Texans, using phrases like 'double dipping" and 'loophole,' but, district representatives say those folks don't understand what's taking place.

They tell us Dr. Wilcox is able to be Longview's 'interim' superintendent because of a law that was put in place to fill critical shortages.  Anissa Centers has the story.
