Wounded Warriors celebrate to say 'thank you'

BULLARD, TX (KLTV) -

Army veteran William Garcia was serving in Iraq when he suffered a brain injury. And, after returning to the United States...life was anything but easy.

He and his wife spent a summer living out of their car. He then asked The Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation along with Hope for the Warriors for help.

"It was hard. Got a lot of pride, you know?" Garcia told us.

And, Saturday evening, the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation gave thanks to those in East Texas who donated.

"They come back, they're alienated trying to fit back into society. It's difficult," said Ed Schmidt with the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation.

The Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation also presented Hope for the Warriors a check for 50,000 dollars...money that will help injured warriors get back on their feet.
