Gregg County Deputy punched in the face by teen, officials say

GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Gregg County Deputy is injured after trying to detain a suspect.

Deputies say 17-year-old Torry Reed of Longview was being detained by Gregg County Deputy William Jennings on Thursday, when Reed began to resist and punched the deputy in the mouth.

Jennings says Reed refused to produce ID and when he tried to stop him from fleeing, that's when Reed struck him.

Reed is charged with assault on a public servant, and is being held on $25,000 bond.
