Officer-involved shooting: One dead in Bowie Co.

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - UPDATE: Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Sylvia Jennings confirms that it was Texas Parks and Wildlife officer that fired the fatal shot in the Bowie County shooting Thursday.

Texas Parks and Wildlife officers, Bowie County Sheriff's deputies and several other agencies are investigating what is being described as an officer-involved shooting in Texarkana, Texas. 

It happened just before 1:30 p.m. on Cummings Lane, one block off of Kings Highway. Witnesses say the suspect was apparently driving erratically and crashed. When police responded, they discovered the driver had a gun. The man reportedly fired two shots, and an officer fired back, killing him.
