Metoyer cleared to play at OU

It took a while, but it appears Whitehouse native Trey Metoyer will play football at Oklahoma.  David Metoyer says his son has been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse to enroll.  Metoyer had signed with the Sooners as a high school senior, but had to spend a semester at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.

Metoyer recently said on his Twitter account that he had been accepted and would be leaving in a few days.  His father David Metoyer confirmed the news today.  Semester classes have already begun in Norman.  Spring football begins March 5.   If Metoyer passes a physical, he could still have four years of college eligibility remaining.

The University of Oklahoma has yet to comment.  The OU Information Department says they will release information as soon as they have received confirmation that Metoyer can enroll.

On a hot, humid East Texas Monday, Jake Arledge sat and visited with Angelina Baseball Coach Jeff Livin. After the morning talk the two would leave the AC cooled office and venture into the heat to look for an apartment. Five years ago, Arledge would have never thought his life would bring him to Lufkin.
