"Well, it's a storage yard. And, it's fairly common and it's prior to construction for large pipeline projects to assemble pipe in one central location and distribute it from there," Jim Prescott, a project representative with Keystone said.
And, that project is the Keystone Pipeline...which is now on hold until further notice due to President Obama's rejection of TransCanada's application.
"So, in the meantime that pipe will sit tight until we get the approval to start Keystone Excel or until we make some other decisions," said Prescott.
Crews have been storing the pipes at this location since last August.
Thomas McKinney lives across the street from the storage yard. And, he isn't too pleased with the pile of pipes looming over his ranch.
"Six months they've had that over there. But, they just moved all the heavy equipment out that was unloading it and putting it on the ground over there...and put a chain on the gate over there," said McKinney.
So, until the project is up and running again...the pipes stay.
