ETX woman finds malnourished dog

WINONA, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas woman calls authorities after she finds a malnourished dog at her front door.

The dog was found Sunday night at the 20,000 block of Highway 155, in Winona.

She's a dog who is looking for love, and ended up finding it at Rhonda Brown's home.

"She's very loving and very attentive and she's just really a great dog. She's great with other pets and the SPCA is going to help get her all fixed up," said Rhonda, found dog at her front door.

Rhonda said when she found the dog everything about her screamed that she needed help, and fast.

"One that every bone in her body shows, that she's not been fed and has been tied up and of course her leg, she's been shot," said Rhonda.

While Rhonda is not looking to adopt her, she said she's excited and hopeful a good family will take her in and give her the attention she needs.

Attention only a duchess would require.

"Lady Duchess would do real well with children. You can tell she's got some hound dog in her so she's got the hound dog song for you. You can tell she's a very affectionate dog that needs some love and affection," said Becky Jinright, SPCA of East Texas.

Love and affection that Becky said will help her get back to good shape.

Becky said Lady Duchess will be taken to West Tyler Veterinary Clinic on Tuesday to get checked out.

They are still not sure when Lady Duchess will be ready for adoption.
