Longview Boy Trades Cancer Research donations for Birthday gifts

A Longview boy has asked friends and family to make donations to cancer research as opposed to presents for his 8th birthday. He's a normal 7 year old boy, loves school loves sports, looking forward to his 8th birthday on Monday... But when Blake Ward found out that his aunt was suffering from leukemia he made a request from friends and family.

"I wanted donations cause my aunt had luekemia so we decided to make a donation," said Blake.

"He made the decision in lieu of getting presents for his birthday presents that there would be donations from relatives and friends and the donations would go the luekemia and lymphoma society," says Blakes mother Cheryl Horner.

Blake wrote letters to his friends and family asking them to donate in stead of buying gifts.

"She's pretty fun... Toys are fun and everything but I think lifes more important to me," he says.

"Blakes surprised us before with some pretty adult decisions so it wasn't so much of a surprise," says stepfather Mark Horner.

Already numerous donations have been made by friends and family to answer Blakes wish. He asks that anyone who can , make a donation to the luekemia and lymphoma society.
