Billy Hibbs, Sr. In The Hall Of Fame

Community leadership, personal integrity, and industry innovations. All qualities of Billy Hibbs, Sr. He's now in the Tyler Business Hall of Fame, a prestigious honor given by the Junior Achievement of Greater Tyler.

He was presented the award tonight at a ceremony at Hollytree Country Club in Tyler. Billy Hibbs founded Hibbs-Hallmark Insurance. It later became Heartland Security Insurance Group, of which Hibbs is the honorary chair. The insurance and risk management organization has grown to be among the largest in the nation.

Billy Hibbs, Jr. says he's extremely proud of his father, "We're so thrilled. Billy has grown a business from a couple of people to a couple hundred people. And it's really a Horatio Alger type story. He came from a little farm in Quitman, Texas and has been able to achieve some pretty remarkable things," said Billy Hibbs, Jr.

Billy Hibbs, Sr. said, "I'm just overwhelmed. I knew it would be good, but not this good."

Also recognized tonight at the dinner was Teacher of the Year, Sharon Bailey and Volunteer of the Year, Gayle Steiner.

Tonight's event was also a fundraiser for Junior Achievement of Greater Tyler.
