All four of the Hallsville, Texas officers that were fired in December have been reinstated after a city council meeting Tuesday night.

KSLA News 12's Erin Stevenson was at the two and a half hour meeting and says the Hallsville city council listened to two public comments before holding a closed door session. City council officials called the officers and their lawyer in twice during that session. Then, the city council voted 3-2 in favor of reinstating the officers in front of the public.

Three officers were fired in December by the Hallsville mayor for reportedly not meeting departmental standards. Another officer quit after the firings. Residents organized a petition to get the officers reinstated.

There is still no word on when the officers will return to work.
