Restaurant opens after 12 years of work

A Rusk county restaurant is open for business, after 12 years of work to get there. Fair View ranch is located on highway 43 between Tatum and Henderson in Rusk county. Looking a lot like an old west ranch house, Fair View ranch opened for business on highway 43, 12 years after work began.

"My dad he was raised on a ranch in Montana many years ago, and he'd always wanted to have a restaurant of his own, put his mind to it and here we are, he did it a little bit at a time a little bit every day," says Wes Fair, the restaurant manager.

Using no bought materials, the family cut every beam , every upright , out of their own timber, using their own mill, and used recycled materials.

"All the tin came off of old barns that we just over the years collected, we milled all of the wood inside for the decor, used buckets from tractor supply," Wes says.

The family's attitude throughout was however long it took, they would make the restaurant a reality.

"We don't have anyone up above us telling us how or what or when, we have our own signature seasoning that we make, we make out own bar-b-que sauce, everything's home made," Fair says.

And the word is already getting around.

"This is going to be a great place, good food , great place to come and dine," says customer Mark Balfanz.

The Fairs have thought of everything, they even built a parking lot for 18 wheelers.
