Back in November, Joan was honored with a Lone Star Emmy Award for Lifetime achievement and she was inducted into the Emmy organization's Silver Circle.

Joan Hallmark is a native East Texan whose career has taken her all over the world.

She's been featured on "Good Morning America" and "ABC News One". She has had the opportunity to interview everyone from President Bush to John Wayne. Several of those "headliner" interviews were on her own award-winning show, "The Joan Hallmark Show".

"You would never know that she is a star literally a star and in every sense of the word, but you wouldn't know unless you sit down and talk to her or you've seen her on TV," said Good Morning East Texas anchor Taylor Hemness.

She has spent the last 30 years with the KLTV news family where she dedicates her time to "Proud of East Texas" and "Freedom Fighter" stories.

"As I drive through East Texas every little place reminds me of a story that she and I did," said one of Joan's first cameramen Craig Harris.

Joan has received numerous awards, the most recent, the Lone Star Emmy Silver Circle. This prestigious award is a symbol of recognition of the significant contribution and lifetime commitment Joan has made to the news industry. Family and friends gathered to celebrate this induction as well as a proclamation from the mayor that January 12, 2012 is Joan Hallmark Day.

"I always sort of pray that I do a good job on the stories...that I can touch others with a person's story and in doing so touch their lives...I hope I do," said Joan.

She has shared more stories than she can count and yet there are still more to be told.

"There's always a story I haven't done. I feel like I've done every story in East Texas because I've done thousands and yet there's always stories I haven't done that peek my interest," said Joan.

"I hope to keep seeing Joan for a long time on television; she's a landmark in East Texas and I'm proud of her," said Harris.

Joan said everyone has a story and she will continue to share as many of those as she can.
