Police on the look out for armed robbery suspect

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas store clerk was robbed at gun point and the man holding the gun is still on the loose tonight.

Palestine police say an armed robber struck at the Pitt Stop, at the intersection of N. Link Street and Kickapoo street.

"I'm sure she was scared anyone would be if someone points a gun at you," said Linda Gauthier, Assistant Manager at Pitt Stop.

That's what Gauthier said happened to her co-worker last night while she was working at the Pitt Stop.

"He came through the door pointed a gun at her and demanded the money in the register which she gave to him and then he asked for the money that we keep under here which we no longer keep money there so all he got was what was in the register," said Gauthier.

Gauthier said the robber stole about $200 from the register, and then left the store, heading west.

Police said the robber was wearing dark clothes, gloves, and a mask.

Right now, the only description they have to go on is that the suspect is five -foot- five, with a stocky build.

"After he left the police were called they responded and looked for him in the area but he wasn't located," said Sgt. James Muniz, Palestine Police Department.

Sgt. Muniz said given the situation, the store clerk reacted just as she should have.

"She did do the right thing because there's no amount of money worth being hurt over so she did exactly what she needed to do," said Muniz.

Authorities said if you have any information to contact them at the Palestine Police Department.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
