GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
A traffic stop turns into a drug discovery and a chase into the woods and the use of a stun-gun, landing a man and woman in jail.
It started with a DPS trooper stop of a vehicle on I-20 in Gregg County around 1-am Friday. After the vehicle was stopped, troopers found an amount of cocaine hidden in the drivers pants. 31-year-old Maurice Rudd of Karnack, then bolted from the car and was chased down by officers who had to use a stun-gun on the 6-3, 260 pound man.
He's jailed on $60,000 bond, charged with second-degree drug possession, tampering with physical evidence, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
37-year-old April Hayner also of Karnack, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, and is being held on $50,000 bond.
Hayner, while already in custody, tried to hide several hundred dollars in cash under a deputy's patrol car.
