Big Snow in Longview Area

The arctic blast that dumped several inches of snow in Longview brought out the kid in lots of east Texans.

"Yeah that's how I feel today about 10 years old" said Matt Permenter of Wood county. The art of snowman construction was well underway as they could be seen in front yards all over east Texas, and practically everyone was finding a way to enjoy the foreign white stuff.

"I think its great , nice and cold, wet" said teenager Michael Ragsdale. Bridges were closed due to ice in Camp and Titus counties but other than that no major problems from the snow. In some places there was as much as 4 to 5 inches of accumulated snow and while its a playground for kids others would rather not have it.

"It just makes me want to go in and get warm and stay away from it" said Hughs Springs native Steve Gentry. Trade days at the Longview fairgrounds suffered small crowds because of the winter blast.

"Mark Scirto didn't do his job right, yesterday I thought it was going to be out of here but I guess this other storm came in and its just too much" said fairgrounds manager Billy Clay. Some played in it... and some were just content to stroll along and enjoy the scenery. They enjoyed the day, knowing it could be a while before we see it again.
