Feral hogs are huge problem for one Tyler resident

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

One Tyler resident says feral hogs are everywhere! He says they are in his driveway and yard every single night.

Artis Newsome says he has seen up to a dozen of mid-sized hogs at one time in his yard.

Newsome says they usually come out at night time to eat the hundreds of acorns that fall from the Oak trees in his yard. And by morning, he deals with all the leftovers.

For the last two months Newsome has had to deal with his hog problem. They started out in his driveway and in his front yard. After destroying the grass, Newsome figured out all he had to do was shovel all the acorns into the bushes on the side of the house--but that only seemed to make matters worse.

"I feel like I'm not getting any help, I feel like nothing's been done," Newsome expressed, "I feel like they could destroy my whole yard and it wouldn't make sense for me to replace my grass, if the hog problem is still there. So, you know, I don't know what to do."

Newsome says that he called the City of Tyler back in November where he got the list of individuals that had hog traps.

But here it is nearly three months later and he's still waiting for someone to help catch all the hogs that have seem to have a party in his yard, on a nightly basis.

Newsome says he's talked with someone that has a hog trap available in a week and a half.

In the meantime, he's hoping someone will else will help him out.
