Authorities may have identified motive in LA arson-spree

LOS ANGELES, CA (CNN) - We're learning more about the man arrested in connection with the four-day arson spree in Los Angeles last week.

Authorities may have found out his motive for setting 52 fires.

Harry Burkhart, 24, was taken into custody early Monday morning.

Deputies say Burkhart was pulled over while driving a van similar to one linked to the fires.

At a news conference, investigators refused to answer a question about reports Burkhart made threats at his mother's deportation hearing.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck says, "I'm not going to get into any of the details of statements that he made.  That information will be forthcoming but until we file the case it would put the district attorney at a disadvantage for me to put that out."

Burkhart has been charged with one count of arson, and will likely face more charges.

Luckily no one was killed in the fires, but a firefighter and a civilian sustained minor injuries.
