LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

An employee of the Longview Independent School District was fired after being arrested for the sexual assault of a child.

Monday evening officers were dispatched to the 100 Block of Myrle Avenue for a runaway who had returned home.  When Officers arrived they were told by the child's mother that her child had run away, but was now home.

She also told Police that her child had been picked up while he was walking down the street by a man who the child knew and had visited in the past.  The child alleged that the suspect, identified as Bobby Ray Jackson, 52, of Longview, had sexually assaulted him during the short time he had been away from home.

Jackson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child F/1 and booked into the Gregg County Jail.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jackson allegedly sexually assaulted the 14-year-old mentally disabled boy repeatedly for more than a year.

Longview ISD officials say Jackson was hired by the district in 1996 as a custodian for Longview High School.
