UPDATE: The 'Handsome Guy Bandit' was arrested this morning in Mississippi, after a chase with local authorities. Authorities said he consumed a large amount of medication right before he was taken into custody and is currently being treated by medical personnel.

Deputies got a hit off Steven Milam's license plate. Sheriff's deputies attempted to pull Milam over, but said he would not stop. Authorities shot out his tire and placed him in custody at about 10:00 am in Jackson County. Milam was alone in the car. The sheriff says he threw up in the back of the patrol car, most likely because of the large amount of drugs he swallowed.

KLTV has learned that the wife of Steven Milam is employed by Bank of Tyler. Management says she is not at work this week.

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The search is on for a Tyler man wanted for robbing at least a dozen banks near Dallas. The latest, being Saturday morning at a Richardson bank.

Steve Ray Milam, 44, who police are now calling the "Handsome Guy" Bandit, is wanted for attempted capital murder. Police say he sprayed a police car with gun shots during a robbery holdup in Richardson.

Outside of Steve Milam's Tyler home, police were staked out Monday morning.

Neighbor Carla Bridges says over the weekend, police asked her if she's seen Milam or his family.

"Yeah, there was a policeman and they were looking around at the house and he said there's nothing wrong, you know, no one's in trouble, but we just need to find them you know," said Bridges.

The FBI has dubbed Milam as the "Handsome Guy" Bandit. Police say he's robbed more than a half dozen banks near the Dallas area in the last year, wearing a mask each time. Bridges is taken back by the allegations surrounding her neighbor.

"Oh really? He's the one that they've been talking about, you know they suspected someone," she said. "Shoot! I didn't know all that, that he was even. They've always been nice. They'd speak to us when we'd speak to them, and all that."

Neighbors say Steve Milam owns Monumental Memorials in Tyler. They say they often saw Milam load and unload caskets at his house, but during the month of December, they say they barely saw him.

"I haven't seen them over there in days, at least days, at least Christmas anyway," said Bridges.

As authorities continue their search, they hope tips from the public will lead to the "Handsome Guy" Bandit's arrest.

Police say Milam served a two-year federal prison sentence for robbing two banks in Dallas back in 2005. Police say during those robberies, he did not wear a mask.
