Gun sales at record high

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Gun sales are at a record high according to FBI figures. December beats last months record of 1.5 million.

Adults and even a little girl practiced hitting those targets at Lock and Load Indoor Shooting Range in Tyler. And, given the national rise in gun sales--we asked Firearm Instructor B. J. Norris about the high numbers.

"More and more people are wanting to take responsibility for their own self-protection and protection of their property. And, a lot of people think a firearm is a great way to do that," he said.

Anthony Imondi is here shooting with his 20-year-old daughter. He told us a gun is important when it comes to his daughter.

"For security-wise. That's why it's important to me," he told us.

And, in a recession--firearms appear to be a solid investment.

"A gun doesn't seem to loose it's value like so many other items do," said Edna Stovall of A-1 Pawn. She says guns are in high demand at her store.

So, it appears in this day and age, people are looking for a solid investment--one that will also keep the burglars at bay.
