Narcotics warrant nets meth, arrest

Released by Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office:

On Wednesday December 28th, 2011 Deputies of the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office were responding to a call of trespassing on County road 1804. 

Upon arrival Deputies found a red car stuck in the mud which was registered to an owner in Quitman.  Two subjects, Ashley Gill, W/F and Michael Lee Herrera W/M of Quitman were found in the vehicle which was on private property. 

Deputies determined that Herrera was wanted on a narcotics warrant for Methamphetamines out of Dallas County. Suspect Herrera was taken into custody and transported to the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office. 

During an inventory of the vehicle deputies found approximately 30 grams of Methamphetamines, scales used to weigh and measure drugs and small baggies used for the distribution of narcotics.  After an investigation, deputies released Gill; Herrera was booked in on the Dallas County charge and is being held with NO Bond. 

Additional charges of PG1 Manufacturing and Delivery of >4G<200G, which carries a fine of up to $10,000 and 5 to 99 years are in the process of being filed. 

Assisting the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office was the Constable of Precinct #1.
