UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Big Sandy police officer was arrested this morning for driving while intoxicated.

The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 38-year-old Shanon Louise Davis early this morning.

A warrant was obtained for a blood sample at ETMC Gilmer.

She was booked into the Upshur  County Jail just after 3:30 am.

According to officials at the Big Sandy Police Department, officer Davis has been fired for these actions. She had been employed by the police department since June of 2010.

In a statement released by the Big Sandy Police Department, officials say that Officer Davis' current situation should serve at a reminder that all of us are subject to the same laws and nobody is above the law, regardless of occupation or status as a law enforcement officer.

According the Upshur County Judicial records, Davis was released after 4:00 am, on a $1500 bond.
