TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Eleven men are in the Smith County Jail after a Bullard police officer made a traffic stop Thursday night that led to the bust of what Bullard authorities call a smuggling operation.
Officials say that 34 year-old Victor Manuel Guzman of Houston and 55 year-old Cayetano Torres-Rodriguez of Pasadena were allegedly driving nine people across the border from Mexico.
They were arrested after a Bullard police officer stopped the GMC Yukon they were driving in late Thursday evening because of a defective tail light.
All 11 men were arrested and are currently being held in the Smith County Jail. The nine passengers in the vehicle are expected to be transported to immigration offices in Dallas next week.
Guzman and Torres-Rodriguez are being held on charges of smuggling persons for monetary gain and criminal conspiracy.
They are each being held on $2 million bail.
