Mel Gibson's New Movie Is Being Marketed In A Unique Way

Movie critics say it may end up being the most watched movie of all time. Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" is set to open in just more than two weeks.

Christian churches have become the forum for a very different media campaign.

At Longview's New Beginning's Baptist church, they have bought out two showings of the movie already. They are encouraging members to buy them for their non-Christian friends. The idea came from a promotional video sent to churches, telling them about the movie and how to use it to spread the Gospel.

For Christians, "The Passion of the Christ" is more than just a movie. "We're also going to begin a series of Bible study lessons that we offer on Sunday mornings on 'The Passion of the Christ' that will go through the end of March, that'll help answer more questions that people have coming out of that movie," says associate pastor Tim Hill.

The promotional video comes with clips of the movie and an interview with Mel Gibson. The Christian community believes this movie will be used as a successful evangelistic tool. The movie opens Wednesday February 25th, which is Ash Wednesday.
