Salvation Army Receives Soup Donations

The Salvation Army in Tyler and Longview received generous donations today from the Chick-Fil-A soup drive. Chick-Fil-A matched every customer's order of chicken soup during the month of January, donating the same amount to The Salvation Army in each city. More than 2400 servings of soup were sold in all. The pre-packaged chicken soup came as a welcome gift today.

"This is God's store house," Chef Derrick Thomas, of The Salvation Army, said. "God supplies the food here to feed the people. So it's always a blessing because God's sending it in."

Today, Chick-Fil-A presented The Salvation Army of Tyler with 29 cases of soup, totaling more than 1700 servings. The Longview Salvation Army received 10 cases, which totaled 670 servings.
