Gifts that give

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The joy of giving is sometimes times lost in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Long lines and light pocketbooks can leave us exhausted with visions of dollar signs dancing in our heads.

"I really believe Christmas is about giving back. A lot of times this time of year people forget the true meaning of Christmas," says Raquet and Jog's manager, Rebecca Biggs.

But what if buying a gift for your loved one simultaneously helped a stranger in need?

Here at Raquet and Jog, with every pair of shoes you purchase, a new pair is given to a child in need.

"Well, Christmas is about the season of giving to someone you love or someone you care for, but you are giving to someone that actually needs something, so it's a win win situation," says Biggs.

An idea babysitter Courtland Hollis, hopes to share with two little girls.

"They're four and eight and I can tell them what the meaning is that we are giving overseas to little children that don't have shoes so they can have shoes and not go barefoot,"says Hollis.

There are several other companies with a similar mission. For example, a company called Cancerversary found by logging onto www.shopcancerversary.com. A portion of every purchase is donated to cancer organizations that offer hope, provide healing and strive for a cure to cancer.

For makeup lovers, the brand Smashbox is offering a limited-edition eye shadow palette called Wish. If you purchase this particular palette, you help support a child through the Children's Miracle Network.

Its gifts like these that help a cause far greater than ourselves.
