Strong storms possible tonight

TYER, TX (KLTV) - A powerful storm system is moving towards the area and as this system moves into East Texas, showers and thunderstorms will develop. Right now it appears the best time to expect these storms is after sunset this evening.

A line of storms, some probably severe, will develop to our west during the late afternoon hours. As this line move into the area, the amount of energy needed to maintain the severity of the storms will be weakening so we expect this line to not be quite as severe as it will be for our neighbors to the west. However, the winds around 3000 feet off the ground are forecast to be over 65 mph as the line of storms moves through, so any of the stronger storms could produce wind gusts up to 60 mph.

The current timing has this line moving through East Texas between 7PM tonight through 3AM Tuesday. We will continue to monitor this situation closely. If you have any travel plans tonight please keep up to date on the latest weather developments. If you have a mobile device the easiest way to do this is to go to the app store and search for the KLTV weather app. It's free and will help keep you up to date with the latest weather information.
