LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

"Just opening a business in today's economy is just a little risky anyway. And so, we were all a little worried that maybe she was biting off more than she could chew. She's convinced us that she can do this," said Dawn Williams, mother of Tall Timbers Gym owner.

Dawn Williams has put time and money into putting her daughter's ideas into action.

"It's always been a dream of mine to open up my own facility, and so I'm following my dreams and going for it. I want to change children's lives," said Tall Timbers Gym owner and coach, Ashleigh Williams.

This weekend, Ashleigh opens her own gym, Tall Timbers Gymnastics. About a month ago, Ashleigh, along with her parents, transformed an empty warehouse into a children's gym. This weekend's open house displays how their hard work is paying off.

"It's good for children. It teaches them a lot of discipline. It teaches them a lot of self-esteem," said D. Williams.

Ashleigh will coach children ages 18 months through 6 years old. Her mom says this job is perfect for Ashleigh, since her daughter began  doing gymnastics at the age of 3.

"It's just always been a lifelong dream. She's been doing gymnastics practically since she could walk," said D. Williams.

Williams says this gym is the first of its kind in Lufkin. And, both women already have big dreams for the future.

"I'm hoping she can just expand it and have a competitive program that can go and compete," said D. Williams.

Until then, young children can enjoy the bounce house and trampoline already in place. Classes will officially begin January 2nd.
