Former Firefighter Indicted On Porn Charges

A federal grand jury has indicted a 46-year-old Upshur County resident, and former Longview firefighter, on child pornography charges. The federal grand jury indicted Johnny Dale Fenlaw under seal on Tuesday afternoon on two counts of distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, Fenlaw allegedly used a computer to send and store images of children under the age of 18 engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The indictment was unsealed on Wednesday afternoon during Fenlaw's initial appearance and arraignment.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Harry McKee set a trial date of March 23, 2004. If convicted, Fenlaw could face a minimum sentence of five years, and a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and $250,000 fine for count one. Fenlaw faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in sentence and a $250,000 fine for count two.

The FBI and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is a component of the Longview Police Department are investigating the case.
