Gift Of Love: Brandon

Brandon is a typical 12 year old. He enjoys riding his bike, playing basketball and his favorite, video games. "He's just a wonderful kid, well mannered and polite. He's just sweet as he can be," says Kelli Slaga, his case worker with Child Protective services.

Brandon enjoys music and is learning to play the saxophone at school. "It's just mainly the, how should I put it, the musical alphabet in band," explains Brandon. He enjoys school and likes to be involved in activities. Kelli says, "He gets along well with his classmates. Teachers just love him. We get wonderful reports from principals and teachers."

Brandon is a healthy young boy, but his life has been filled with disappointments, fear, loneliness and confusion. Because of abuse and neglect, Brandon was removed from his home about three years ago. As a result, he is learning to deal with anger. He says a forever family is important to him. "I'd like a nice family." Brandon goes on to say, "Because that's where I can spend forever at and that's something I want. I miss not having that cause I don't have any parents, with except foster parents." Kelli adds, "He just needs to be given the chance. You know, that sense of belonging. Someone who believes in him will definitely help."

Brandon needs a family that will provide understanding, patience and nurturing, helping draw out his potential. He needs the basics of life helping to heal his emotions. "He's just a special kid and he deserves a loving family. Someone who's willing to commit and offer him that permanent home," says Kelli.

But the bottom line, "I'm a good kid," says this young boy. And Brandon says if his dream of finding the Gift of Love comes true, he has something for his new family. "Love in return."
