Longview mayor, Murray Moore, announced today he wants to freeze city property taxes for citizens over 65 and the disabled.
The mayor says increasing property values have been devastating for retirees on fixed income. In a written statement Tuesday, he says a well structured budget will pay for the tax freeze. He says the money will not come from citizens and businesses.
The mayor is expected to present the resolution during the February 12th city council meeting.
