LUFKIN, TX (KLTV) - Lufkin Police arrested a man accused of stealing a $10,000 wedding ring from a jewelry store Thursday afternoon.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to Beard's Fine Jewelry, located on the 2000 block of First Street, at 2:50 p.m. Store employees said a man, later identified as Marquis Kingsbury, 19, of Nacogdoches, had walked into the store and said he wanted to purchase a wedding ring for his girlfriend, as they would be married on Christmas.

When an employee removed a ring from the display case and held it between her fingers to show Kingsbury, he grabbed it and ran from the store, according to the report.

Employees chased him in the direction of Scenic Acres trailer park, according to the report, and officers learned from Huntington State Bank employees that a man had entered the bank, went into the restroom and then left the bank wearing different clothes.

Officers saw Kingsbury run from the bank into a vacant lot next to LaQuinta Inn, according to the report. An officer chased him as both dodged vehicles on South First Street and the officer saw Kingsbury get rid of the ring just before the officer was able to take him into custody.

The ring, a Natalie K brand 18K white gold ring with 2.66 carats of diamonds, valued at $10,500, was recovered and returned to the store.

Kingsbury was booked into the Angelina County Jail, where he is being held on charges of theft and evading arrest. He is also being held on a theft charge out of Nacogdoches County and a robbery charge in Angelina County. His bond is set at $210,000.

Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
