RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV)- "The sun was shining right into her face and she said she didn't see the vehicle coming. She pulled on out and next thing she knew she got hit and didn't even see who as coming to hit her,"says Kilgore ISD's superintendent, Jody Clements.

"A Kilgore Independent School District school bus was going to cross over the northbound lanes of 259 coming off of County Road 181. It pulled in front of a Ford Ranger, which was traveling northbound on US 259," says Texas State Trooper, Jake Leblanc.

Fortunately, none of the students were injured.

"All of our students are fine; we've got them off the bus, checked them out and they've been transported home," says Clements.

He says the bus was carrying students from first grade all the way up through high school.

While students loaded up on another bus to be taken home, three others were taken to a local hospital.

"The driver and passenger of the Ford Ranger pick up were both taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center to be checked for injuries and also the driver of the school bus. No kids were injured," says Leblanc.

A horrible accident but with a bus full of children, thankful it was not worse.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office confirms that a Kilgore ISD school bus is involved in an accident with a pick up truck on Highway 259 S. near the intersection of County Road 181.

Kilgore ISD Superintendent Jody Clements says all 15 students of all ages on the KISD #14 bus are OK.

The Jaws of Life are on the scene. Emergency workers are attempting to get the passenger out of the pickup truck.

The school bus driver has been transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the pickup truck have been taken to the hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

Officials say the bus driver reportedly was blinded by the sun while crossing Highway 259, and did not see the truck.

We have a crew on scene and will post more information as soon as it becomes available. Stay tuned to KLTV.com.
