the Children's Advocacy Center of Gregg and Harrison Counties
LONGVIEW, TX – December 7, 2010 – Supporters of Longview
Regional's Healthy Woman program and the Children's Advocacy Center of Gregg
and Harrison Counties are as busy as Santa's elves in preparation for
Saturday's Healthy Woman Wreath Run/Walk and Kid's Dash benefiting the
Children's Advocacy Center of Gregg and Harrison Counties. "At last year's
Healthy Woman Christmas party, we came up with the idea of doing something
completely different this year to celebrate health and give back to our
community," says Healthy Woman Coordinator Claire Hunter. "We are so excited to
be presenting a family-oriented, healthy activity during this busy time of year
while also raising money for such a worthy cause."
The event will happen this Saturday, December 10th
at the Longview Regional parking garage off Hollybrook. Although same-day
registration will be available on race day starting at 6:30 AM, participants
who have not already registered are encouraged to register during packet
pick-up on Friday, December 9th from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Personally Fit
by Chris Hill, 1201 N.W. Loop 281, Suite 400 in Union Plaza.
The actual event will kick off with the Kids' Dash at 7:30 AM.,
and the 5K Walk/Run begins at 8 AM. All participants will receive a goody bag,
a race t-shirt, post-race drinks and snacks, and a keepsake Wreath Run
ornament. Awards will also be given in each age category. If you have questions
about the Wreath Run, please visit www.longviewregional.com
or contact Claire Hunter at 903-381-7238.
All proceeds benefit the Children's Advocacy Center of Gregg
and Harrison Counties (CACGHC), a non-profit organization whose mission is to
lessen the emotional trauma to children who have been victims of sexual or
physical abuse or witnesses to a violent crime. The CACGHC provides forensic
interviews of the children in a child-friendly place to assist law enforcement
in the investigation and prosecution of their cases. In addition, the CACGHC
coordinates the efforts of law enforcement, child protective services,
prosecutors, counselors and therapists to provide healing and recovery to young
victims and their families. In 2010, the Center provided services to 385
children.
